Gayeshwar, 14 others hurt in attack during Keraniganj electioneering
Keraniganj: At least 15 BNP leaders and activists, including its candidate from Dhaka-3 constituency Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, were injured in an attack by masked men during electioneering at Chunkutia in South Keraniganj on Tuesday.
Local BNP leaders and activists alleged that a group of masked men equipped with sticks swooped on the BNP activists during an election campaign around 6 pm, leaving 15 people, including Gayeshwar, injured, reports the UNB.
The miscreants also hurled brick chips at the BNP campaigners.
BNP leaders and activists, including Advocate Sultan Naser, Advocate Kausar Ahmed, Ziauddin Pintu and Hazi Masum were among the injured.
The injured were first taken to Mitford Hospital from where they were shifted to Islami Bank Hospital at Kakrail in the city.
Shahjamal, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj South Police Station, said, ‘We’ve heard the news and we’re going to the spot.’
