Back-to-school hair straight off the catwalk
Fall has its rewards -- cashmere sweaters, snug outer wear and the chance to test out new hairstyles being just some of them. Get back-to-school hair down pat with these catwalk looks.
Loose waves
The overwhelming trend on the Autumn/Winter 2015 catwalks was for long, loosely styled waves for a natural and easy look. From the softly cascading tresses on show at Gucci to the straighter and more polished but equally wearable styles that offset Jason Wu's collection, there was a definite trend for slightly undone hair across the shows, resulting in a chic, elegant and carefree look. Use curlers for a sleek effect or go au naturel for a more textured, choppier look as seen at Saint Laurent and Roland Mouret. Team with a simple center part and flawless makeup.
Headbands
The perfect autumnal hair accessory for this season is the headband. Simple, chic and understated, it makes a strong style statement while hiding a multitude of hair sins (greasy roots, anyone?). It was worn high up on the crown at Chanel to add structure to chignons, with wispy hairs pulled out around the face to soften the look. Proenza Schouler used them to create a stark division between the hair and the face, pulling them down to the hairline. Avoid anything too frivolous and opt for a simple, monochromatic style to keep things grown-up.
Messy updos
In keeping with the hair and beauty theme of AW15, updos are also perfect in their imperfection this season. Take a leaf out of Giorgio Armani's haute couture lookbook and rock a slightly dishevelled chignon or follow Dolce & Gabbana's lead and pull hair back in a center part before attaching it at the base of the neck, leaving a few sections to frame the face.
