Two youths were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Katherpool in the capital’s Jatrabari area on early Wednesday.

The incident took place at about 2:00am at the Katherpool Masjid Road area of Jatrabari.

RAB-10 operation officer Khairul Alam said the two young men hurled petrol bombs at the car of RAB while the car was passing through Katherpool area. The two young men started to shoot at RAB while RAB chased them. RAB fired back and the two youths died.

Jatrabari Police sub inspector Maminul Islam said 'two people were shot in a gunfight with RAB at the Katherpool area. I heard they died after they were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The deceased have not been identified yet.'
