Dhaka: Two cases were filed on Wednesday against 21 leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance on charges of attacking police at Mohammadpur in capital.

Mohammadpur police officer-in-charge Azizul Haque confirmed the matter.

The cases were filed against the 21 leaders and activists of the BNP-led alliance on charges of attacking police, obstructing them from discharging duties and exploding crude bombs.

BNP joint secretary general Amanullah Aman, Dhaka city BNP member secretary Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Jubo Dal general secretary Saiful Islam Nirob, former JCD president Azizul Bari Helal and Swechchhasebak Dal general secretary Sharafat Ullah Shefu are among the accused.

Police stopped a procession at Shershah Suri Road in the city’s Mohammadpur area at about 8:30am on Tuesday. A clash took place between the 20-party men and the law enforcers while they were gathering to hold a rally there. The cases were filed in connection to that incident.
