12 arrested over ‘sabotage plan’ in Dhaka
Dhaka: Police arrested at least 12 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-Shibir for ‘sabotage plan’ from different places in Dhaka during a drive continuing for 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
DMP deputy commissioner (media) Masudur Rahman said nine leaders and activists of BNP and three of Jamaat and Shibir were arrested for planning subversive activities during the ongoing countrywide indefinite transport blockade, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
The fourth day of the 120-hour nationwide hartal, enforced by the BNP-led alliance as part of its movement for what it says resorting democracy and people’s voting right and protesting the government’s ‘repressive acts’ and growing incidents of extrajudicial killing, is passing off peacefully alongside the blockade.
