Rajshahi: Detectives arrested a woman for her suspected link to the killing of Rajshahi University Professor Shafiul Islam from Meherchandi in the city on Friday.

The arrested was Nasrin Akter Reshma who is now behind the bar for his suspected involvement in the killing.

Iftekhayer Alam, assistant commissioner of Rajshahi DB police, said the detectives arrested Reshma, a section officer of RU, from the area at about 12:30pm.

On November 15, 2014, Sociology Department teacher Prof Shafiul Islam was stabbed by some unknown assailants on his way home at Chouddapai near the RU campus.  

He succumbed to his injures at the Intensive Care Unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital half an hour later.

Earlier, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) a few more suspects, including a former Jubo Dal leader, in connection with the killing.  

Abdus Samad Pintu was among the arrestees.
