Tabith hopes for free and fair voting
Dhaka: Casting his vote along with his family in Gulshan, BNP-backed mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Tabith Awal expressed hopes that free and fair voting will be ensured.
Tabith along with his family members, including BNP chairperson’s adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo, cast their votes at the polling centre at Gulshan’s Manarat International School on Tuesday morning.
Talking to reporters at the centre, he said the journey of democracy has started with this election after a long time and time will say how far it can be continued.
He said he is hopeful of his victory. ‘We have deployed polling agents in all centres and we will win if our polling agents could work independently,’ he said.
However, he alleged that election camps of their party in different areas have been vandalised since the last night.
Tabith Awal, is contesting the polls with ‘bus’ symbol.
Voting in the elections to three city corporations – Dhaka North City Corporation, Dhaka South City Corporation and Chittagong City Corporation – began at 8:00am and it will continue till 4:00pm without any break.
