Zonayed Saki boycotts poll result in advance
Dhaka: Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral candidate Zonayed Saki boycotted the poll result of the city election in advance claiming vote rigging and irregularities on Tuesday.
The Gonoshonghoti Andolon candidate expressed his no-confidence at a press briefing in a city hotel.
The mayoral candidate said, ‘We wanted to participate in an election through democratic process, but we were driven out from the polling stations. Same happened with our polling agents. You know well who creates this situation. We have come to know that administrative fraud effected the election. The election is advancing towards a farce. The people cannot exercise their franchise. So, we are expressing our no-confidence toward today’s election. We don’t have any confidence on the result of the election.’
Saki said, ‘We have tried our best to stay in the democratic movement of the people and tried to protect their democratic right.’
He also brought charges of tearing his posters and threatening his activists.
He said I have seen that the journalists were barred to enter in the polling stations.
Earlier, BNP-backed candidates boycotted the election of Dhaka South, North and Chittagong bringing the same allegation.
