Tangail: A local leader of Awami League was killed as a truck hit his motorcycle on Tangail-Dhaka highway at Tarutia in Sadar upazila on Sunday.

The deceased is Amzad Ali, president of Jadabpur union unit Awami League in Sakhipur upazila and a resident of Boali village in the upazila.

Quoting witnesses, police said the accident took place at abou 12:00pm when the truck rammed the motorcycle carrying him, leaving him dead on the spot.
