3 get life term for murder

Chittagong: A Chittagong court on Wednesday sentenced a woman and her two associates to life term imprisonment for killing her husband in 2010.
The lifers are-Saleha Begum alias Munni, wife of Mansur Ahmed, Jahid and Jashim of West Sarotoli village in Boalkhali upazila. Of them, Jahid was tried in absentia.
The court also sentenced Rony, another fugitive accused in the case, to seven years jail for assisting Munni in the murder.
The court fined all the convicts Tk 5,000 each, in default, to suffer one year more rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Munni along his three associates strangulated her husband Mansur Ahmed to death with a scarf in their house at Sarotali village on 29 March 2010.
Later, they threw the dumped the body in a river after severing the head from the body.
Advocate Faruk Ahmed, brother of the deceased, filed a case against the four on the following day.
Police submitted chargesheet against them on 9 January 2011.
After examining the records and 13 witnesses, Chittagong 1st Additional District and Session Judge Mohammad Rakibul Islam handed down the verdict.
