Natore: Government has suspended two pro-BNP upazila chairmen in Natore as they were charged in court with criminal cases.

Local government ministry has issued a notice about the suspension of Baraigram upazila chairman Ekramul Alam, also the upazila BNP president, and Naldanga upazila chairman Sakhawat Hossain, also the upazila BNP general secretary.

Natore district administration received the notice on Monday.

Ekramul Alam confirmed that he had received the notice and said he legally challenge the notice.

Sakhawat Hossain said he had not received the notice.

Under the section 25(1-3) of the Local Government (Upazila Council) Act 2011, government can temporarily remove an upazila chairman.
