Gazipur: A young girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Hatimara in Gazipur on Monday night five days after her boyfriend was beaten to death allegedly by her father.

Police and locals said the girl killed herself by hanging from a ceiling fan of her room on Monday night.

As Parveen did not open the door after being called several times on Tuesday morning, the family members broke the door down and found the hanging body.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Chakrabarti Police camp In-charge M Zakir Hossain said Perveen’s boyfriend Tarek, was beaten to death by her family members after being called to their house on 9 July.

The girl’s father Hamidul went into hiding after the incident of her boyfriend’s murder.

Police suspected that the girl might have killed herself out of anger over the killing of her boyfriend.
