Bangladeshi ‘tortured to death’ by BSF

Naogaon: A Bangladeshi was reportedly tortured to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members at Porsha upazila in Naogaon in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased Jaria Murmu is a resident of Nitpur village at Porsha upazila, also a cattle trader.
Naogaon Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion commanding officer lieutenant colonel Rafiqul Hassan said a group of around five cattle traders went to India to buy cattle on Wednesday night. Members of 31 BSF Jagjitpur camp attacked over a boat carrying the cattle trader while it was crossing the River Punarvaba at Porsha upazila at about 5:00am. BSF members beat the cattle traders and left Jaria dead on the spot.
Later, Jaria’s associates managed to flee the place with his body.
Rafiqul Hassan said BGB will sit for a flag meeting with BSF in this connection.
