Kushtia: A local activist of Jubo League was killed and five other people suffered bullet injuries during a clash between two factions of Awami League over joining a National Mourning Day rally at Milpara in the Kushtia town on Saturday.

The deceased, Sabuj, is son of Mobarak of Jhalupara of the town.  

Witnesses said a group of AL men brought out a National Mourning Day rally from Milpara at about 12:00 noon marking the National Mourning Day.

The clash ensued when activists of another AL faction, led by expelled AL leader and former AL district general secretary Mominur Rahman Momiz, tried to join the rally.

A chase and counter-chase took place between the two groups and bullets were fired during the clash, leaving five people, including Sabuj, Bidyut and Ajmal Hossain injured.  

They were taken to Kushtia General Hospital where doctors declared Sabuj dead.
