Rajshahi: Five people were injured in a clash between two factions of Juba League in Shah Makhdum Thana intersection area of Rajshahi city on Saturday.

Quoting witnesses, police said two groups­–one led by general secretary of local unit of Juba League Golam Mostafa and the other led by Juba League leader Masud Rana–locked in an altercation in the area at about 12:30pm.

At one stage, the two groups opened fire at each other, leaving five injured.

Hearing the sound of firing, police from the Shah Makhdum Police Station rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the incident.
