Rajbari: A farmer was killed by a lightning strike at Natunchar village of Baliakandi upazila in Rajbari on Saturday.

The deceased is Abdul Khalek Sheikh, in his fifties, son of Abdull Wahed of the village.

Police and witnesses said a streak of lightning hit Khalek in the afternoon when he was working in a paddy field, leaving him dead on the spot.

Baliakandi police officer-in-charge Jahidul Islam confirmed the incident.
