Jamaat man held over AL leader Amjad murder

Naogaon: Police arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from Belbari village of Raninagar upazila in connection with the killing of local Awami League leader Amjad Hossain on early Wednesday.
The arrestee is Anjir Hossain, believed to be 50, an assistant secretary of Raninagar upazila unit of Jamaat.
Raninagar police officer-in-charge Abdul Latif said a police team conducted a raid on a house in Anjir area of the upazila and arrested him in the dead of night.
Police arrested the Jamaat leader in connection with the killing, the OC added.
Earlier on 19 July, local AL leader Amjad Hossain was hacked to death allegedly by leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami at Bohar area of the upazila following a dispute over a piece of land.
