5 cops among 6 sued over killing a man
Benapole: A case was filed against six people including five police personnel with a Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Jessore on Tuesday in connection with killing a man on 9 October.
Sheuli Begum, widow of slain Enamul of Isali village in Jessore Sadar upazila, filed the case with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Abu Ibrahim against sub-inspectors Tapan and Rasel, constables Ibrahim and Shahid of Isali police camp, SI Masud of Khajura police camp and police source Arun.
Senior Judicial Magistrate took the case into cognizance and ordered Jessore Police Bureau Investigation to submit a probe report of the incident to his court.
According to the case statement, in the early hours of 9 October, police from Isali and Khajura police camps conducted raids on several houses of Isali and Mathurapur village and arrested some villagers, including Enamul.
Later, family members of Enamul searched him in several police stations and police camps but failed to find him out.
When Enamul’s daughter went to Isali police camp, duty officer of the police camp advised her to look for the body of Enamul.
Later, on 10 October , the family members found the body of Enamul at Jessore General Hospital.
The hospital sources said police recovered the body from a rail track and sent it there.
Police killed Enamul in a planned way after picking him up and left the body on the rail track, the family members alleged.
