Jhenaidah: Three children including two siblings were burnt to death allegedly by their uncle over a family feud at Kabirpur village of Shailakupa upazila in Jhenaidah on Sunday.

A woman suffered burn injuries in the incident.

The deceased are Safin, 9, and his brother Amin, 7, sons of Delwar Hossain Depu of Kabirpur Bridgepara, and Mahin, 15, son of injured Jesmin.

Police and locals said Iqbal Hossain, son of Golam Nabi, who was an expatriate, had been in loggerheads with his family members over the fate of money he remitted from abroad.

He locked into an altercation with the family members at about 7:00pm on Sunday over the issue.

At one stage, Iqbal tied his sister Jesmin, nephew (sister’s son) Mahin and two other nephews (brother’s sons) Safin and Amim in a room of the house and set them on ablaze after pouring flammable object on them.

Safin and Amin died on the spot while Jesmin and Mahin received serious burn injuries.

Jesmin was taken to Kushtia Medical College Hospital while Mahin to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital in a critical condition.

Later, Mahin died at the hospital.

Meanwhile, locals caught Iqbal and handed him over to police after a good beating.

On information, police recovered the bodies.

Neighbours said the family members had spent the money Iqbal sent from abroad which angered him.
