Sylhet: A case has been filed against Professor Ariful Islam, head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Shahjalal University of Science Technology (SUST) in connection with a road accident which killed two people on the campus, reports local news agency.

Earlier on Saturday, college teacher and writer Sheikh Ataur Rahman and his uncle Gias Uddin were killed when the car of Ariful Islam knocked them down at about 12:00pm near the main gate of the SUST campus.

Deceased Ataur Rahman’s wife filed the case with Jalalabad Police Station on Sunday night, said Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Professor Ariful was driving the car while his driver was sitting beside when the accident took place, according to witnesses.

Ariful Islam along with his family members reportedly went into hiding after the incident.
