4 held over bid to snatch bike

Lakshmipur: Police arrested four people as they allegedly made an attempt to snatch a motorcycle from a young man in Poura Matsya Hatchery area of Raipur upazila in Lakshmipur on Tuesday night, reports UNB.
The arrestees are Rasel and Nazmul Alam Jibon, ex-president and general secretary respectively of the Raipur municipality 7 no. ward unit of Jatiyatabadi Chattra Dal, and Delwar Hossain Delu and Iqbal Bahar, activists of Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal.
The Raipur police said Saiful Islam, hailing from Noakhali, contacted Jamil Mahamud Rana, a resident of Raipur municipality area, over mobile phone for selling a motorcycle.
On the day, Saiful reached Poura Matsya Hatchery area with his motorcycle at about 7:00pm and was waiting for Rana.
Later, Rana along with Rasel, Nazmul Alam, Delu, Iqbal Bahar and some others carried out an attack on Saiful, beat up him and tried to snatch the motorcycle.
The attackers fled the scene as locals came forward after hearing the victim’s scream.
Police went to the spot and contacted a drive in the area and arrested Jibon, Rasel, Delu and Iqbal at about 8:00pm.
Saiful filed a case with Raipur police.
