Gazipur: Five scrape cloth and cotton warehouses were gutted by a fire that broke out at Mill Gate Namabazar in Tongi on early Saturday.

The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a warehouse in the area at about 2:00am and soon engulfed the adjoining four warehouses, reports UNB quoting Hasibur Rahman, station manager of Joydebpur fire service.

On information, seven firefighting units from Tongi, Joydebpur and Uttara, rushed in and extinguished the blaze after four hours of frantic efforts.

The extent of loss caused by the fire could not be estimated immediately.
