Kushtia: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on came down heavily on the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for its growing ‘no confidence’ attitude towards the results of the elections in which the party was defeated.
‘The BNP did not accept the results of the elections in which the party was defeated ... it also expressed ‘no confidence’ in all the forces including the armed forces several times since they lost in the elections after the 90s ,’ he said.
The information minister told journalists before joining a freshers’ reception and prize-distribution ceremony at Bheramara Degree College here.
His comments came as BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed expressed doubt whether the grassroots-level election would be free and fair.
Inu, also the president of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD, said the BNP leaders should fix their ‘mindset’ first on whom they would keep confidence.
Different political parties and candidates, he said, usually criticize the election procedures before the polls, but after the election, they accept the results despite some faults.
Deputy Commissioner of Kushtia Syed Belal Hossain, Police Super Proloy Chisim, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shanti Moni Chakma, District JSD President Golam Mohsin and General Secretary Abdul Alim were present, among others.
