Barisal: Police on Sunday picked up six Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir leaders and activists while they were holding a meeting at Mehendiganj in Barisal.

‘The six leaders were engaged in a secret meeting at a house of Alamgir Hossain, adjacent to Purbashati Primary School at Ulania union of Mehendiganj,’ said Uzzal Kumar Dey, Officer in-Charge of Mehendiganj Police Station.

The arrested are Ulania union Jamaat president Siddiqur Rahman, also an independent chairman candidate of the union council election, Shibir president Farhad Hossen, activists Saiful Islam, Rubel Hossen, Abu Jafar and Illias Hossain.
