Khulna AL suspends 35 rebel UC chairmen candidates
Khulna: Khulna District Unit Awami League on Wednesday suspended 35 rebel chairmen aspirants of upcoming Union Council elections, scheduled to be held on 22 March, said a press release issued by Farid Ahmed, office secretary of the AL unit.
Khulna AL president Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid and general secretary SM Mostofa Rashidi Suja in a statement said they the suspension was executed as per the directive of the AL central committee.
In the statement, they said, ‘We have nominated 67 UC chairmen candidates under nine upazilas in Khulna. Awami League president and prime minister Sheikh Hasina had approved those candidates and they had been allotted “boat” the symbol.’
‘The rebel candidates started hectic campaign in their respective unions though we had requested them again and again to withdraw their candidacy,’ they said. ‘For violating party’s discipline and ignoring the order of central Awami League, they rival candidates have been suspended from their all positions including primary membership of Awami League, they added.
The candidates who were suspended from AL are Gazi Hafizur Rahman of Barakpur union, Haider Ali Morol of Sadar union at Dighalia, SM Shafiqul Islam of Koyra Sadar union, Bijoy Kumar Sarder of Mohewsorpur union, Sagar Par of Bagali union, Mizanur Rahman Khoka of South Bedkashi union, Sheikh Lutfar Rahman of North Bedkashi union and Rezaul Gain of Betagi union at Koyra upazila, Sarder Golam Mostofa of Haridhali union, Chittaranjan Mondol of Lata union, Dejendranath Mondol of Deluti union and Sheikh Sohrawardi of Gadipur union at Paikgachha, Abdus Salam Majhi of Dumuria Sadar union, Kazi Nurul Islam of Gutudi union, Mehedi Hasan Biplob of Kharnia union, Gazi Towhidul Islam of Rudhaghara union, Suranjit Baiddya of Shovna union, Kartique Chandra Mondal of Magurkhali union, Sheikh Robiul Islam Robi of Sharafpur union, Sheikh Ripon of Shahosh union and Shafiqul Islam Litu of Bhanderpara union at Dumuria, Kamruzzaman Walish of Chagladah union, Kazi Kamal Hossain of Modhupur union, Ukil Uddin Laskar of Sachidah union, Tariqul Islam Molla of Barasat union and Badshah Mallick of Ajogara union under Terokhada, Bhagaboty Golder of Jalma union, Monoranjon Mondal of Batiaghata Sadar union, Ramprasad Roy and Ronojit Roy of Gangarampur union, Ismail Hossain Babu of Bhandercot union and Hazzat Ali of Ameerpur union under Batiaghata upazila, Monirul Islam Sarder of Zamira union under Fultala upazila, Sanjoy Kumar of Dakop Sadar union and Sarajit Kumar Roy of Loudob union and Shamresh Roy of Kamarkhola union under Dakop Upazila in the district.
