PM condemns Lahore attack
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday strongly denounced Sunday’s cowardly terrorist attack in Lahore and reaffirmed her government’s stance against terrorism.
In a condolence message sent to her Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘We strongly condemn the cowardly incident. At this moment of grief, we firmly stand beside you in your fight against terrorism.’
On behalf of the government, the people of Bangladesh and her own behalf, Hasina conveyed deepest condolences to Nawaz Sharif and the brotherly people of Pakistan at the loss of a large number of innocent lives in the terrorist attack.
She also prayed for salvation of the departed souls and for the bereaved families so that they could overcome this tragedy with fortitude.
At least 70 people, mostly women and children, were killed at a crowded park in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore in a suicide blast that also wounded more than 300 people on Sunday.
