No registration of illegal trucks, covered vans: Minister
Dhaka: Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) will not give registration to those trucks and covered vans that are not manufactured as per the Motor Vehicle Rules.
State Minister for LGRD Moshiur Rahman Ranga came up with disclosure while talking to reporters after a meeting of a committee to prevent changes in the size of trucks and covered vans at the Secretariat.
The transport companies will have to follow the Motor Vehicle Rules by building trucks and covered vans. ‘No irregularities will be tolerated in this regard.’
Earlier on March 24, the government formed the 11-member committee, headed by the state minister, to prevent the illegal expansion of chassis of trucks and covered vans. The committee was asked to submit its recommendations by April 30.
BRTA Chairman Nazrul Islam, secretary general of Bangladesh Transport Owners Association Khandaker Enayet Ullah, general secretary of Bangladesh Truck and Covered Van Owners’ Association Rustam Ali and high police officials were present.
