Keraniganj: A child was shot dead during a clash between the supporters of two chairman candidates at Keraniganj in Dhaka on Thursday morning.

Local people said the deceased is Shubho, class VI student of a local school. Shubho is the son of Abdul Halim.

Witnesses said the supporters of the union election candidates involved in a clash at Madurchar area of Hazratpur union of the upazila at about 11:00am that left Shubho dead on the spot.

Abdul Halim claimed the Awami league candidate’s supporters shot his son.

Panic gripped Madhurpur area following the incident.

Additional members of RAB, BGB and police have been deployed in Madhurpur and adjoining areas.
