Govt firm on congenial atmosphere for the autistic: PM
Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday expressing her firm commitment to create a congenial atmosphere for the autistic persons said the government is taking steps to look after the orphan autistics also.
‘A question always comes in my mind that when the mother and father of a autistic child will be no more what will happen to that child, where will it go. We have taken a step to give them shelter. This is the responsibility of the state,’ she said.
The prime minister said this while inaugurating a programme marking 9th World Autism Awareness Day at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka.
Social Welfare Ministry organised the programme with its secretary Dr Chowdhury M Babul Hossain in the chair.
