Govt to procure 600 buses, 500 trucks for BRTC
Dhaka: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said the government would procure 600 passenger buses, 500 trucks and necessary machineries for Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC).
The minister was addressing a meeting of officials and depot managers of the corporation at BRTC head office at Motijheel, reports BSS.
The minister also directed the BRTC chairman for investigating into an irregularity of a depot manager.
He said the state-run BRTC has been giving service to passengers across the country with 1,050 passenger buses, adding, Initiative would be taken for repairing unfit vehicles.’
Quader also stressed on improvement of BRTC’s services for remaining position in the competition market.
Advising good behavior with female passengers, he said the number of female buses would be increased.
BRTC chairman Mizanur Rahman, depot managers and official concerned were present at the meeting.
The minister also instructed the chairman for engaging two buses on Kuril-Biswa Road area.
