Netrakona: A tribunal in Netrakona on Monday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for violating a minor girl at Durgasram village in Sadar upazila in 2009.

Netrakona Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Dr AKM Abul Kashem handed down the verdict, reports UNB.

The lifer, Rubel Miah, 32, of Durgasram village was also fined Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Rubel violated the girl, a resident of the same village, with death threat after she went out of the house in response to the call of nature on 25 March 2009.

Victim's father filed a case with Sadar Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act the following day.
