Juba League leader accused of abusing schoolgirl

Lakshmipur: A class nine schoolgirl was allegedly raped by a Juba League leader at Dasherhat Bazar in Charshahi union of sadar upazila of Lakshmipur on Saturday night.
Police rescued the victim in an injured state from the Gobindopur village residence of Jamal Uddin, joint convener of the union unit Jubo League and son of Abdul Hashim, around 10:30am and got her admitted to Sadar Hospital, reported UNB.
The Dasherhat police investigation camp in-charge Ganesh Chandra Shil said Jamal tricked the girl into going to his house at about 8:30am in the absence of his wife where he raped her after folding her mouth.
When the girl cried out for help, local people from the nearby market rushed to Jamal’s house and called police after finding her in the state.
Later police rescued the victim.
The accused Jamal fled away sensing danger.
Meanwhile victim’s brother filed a case against Jamal and his associate Osman Goni under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Chandraganj police in this connection on Sunday morning.
