10 hurt in pre-election violence in Rajbari
Rajbari: At least ten people were injured in a clash between the followers of two chairman candidates during electioneering ahead of the Sarisa union parishad (UP) election at Khamardangi village in Pangsha upazila on Tuesday.
Police and locals said the clash ensued as the followers of Awami League-rebel candidate Abdus Sabhan vandalised five houses of AL-nominated Azmal Al Bahar in the village in the morning.
Outraged by the attack, supporters of Azmal Al Bahar chased the attackers.
A chase and counter chase took place between them as they attacked one another with homemade arms, leaving seven people injured.
On information, a police team rushed to the village and fired several rounds of bullets to bring the situation under control, leaving three more injured.
The three bullet- injured men were admitted to Pangsha Upzila Health Complex.
