Bandarban: Incessant rainfall and heavy onrush of water along the hill slopes over the last two days has submerged the Chittagong-Bandarban-Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong-Bandarban-Rangamati roads, snapping the district’s communication with Chittagong, Rangmati and Cox’s Bazar.

Besides, the low-lying areas of the district have been submerged amid the heavy rains.

Armipara, Hafezghona and Bus Station area of the district town went under 3-10 feet water due to the downpour, causing immense sufferings to the dwellers.

Road communications of the district with Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar remained snapped on Wednesday morning as the road on Bazalia point was inundated by the water.

Traffic on Bandarban-Rangamati road were also disrupted following the rain water as the road at Polechhara point was submerged.

Water of the Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers have been flowing above the danger marks due to the incessant rain.

The local administration has opened five shelter centers in the district town.

Fearing possible incident of landslide, the local administration has asked people living in the hilly areas in the district to take shelter in a safe place.
