Young man shot dead in Shariatpur

Shariatpur: A young man was shot to death and two people suffered bullet wounds in a rival attack over a land-related dispute at Kandi village in Zanjira upazila on Sunday afternoon, reports UNB.
The deceased is Harun Madbar, 32, son of Kalai Madbar of the village.
Zanjira police officer-in-charge M Nazrul Islam said Matiar Madbar and Hamid Madbar of the village had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land.
The both groups locked into an altercation in the afternoon over the issue.
At one stage, Matiar’s Italy expatriate son Mannan Madbar opened fire on the rival group from his father’s licensed pistol, leaving three followers of Hamid— Harun, Nurul Islam Madbar, 50, and Milon Talukder, 30—injured.
They were rushed to the upazila health complex where doctors declared Harun dead.
Meanwhile, police arrested two people— Sobhan, 30, and Ziaur Rahman, 32—in this connection.
