Sholakia terror attack accused on 10-day remand

A Kishoreganj court has placed Zahidul Haq, an accused in a case filed for the Eid day’s terrorist attack near Sholakia Eidgah, on a 10-day remand for quizzing.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdus Salam Khan passed the order on Sunday evening after the police produced the accused before his court with a 10-day remand plea.
Earlier, a case was filed against two people in connection with the attack that left four people, including two policemen, dead, reports UNB.
Pakundia Police Station sub-inspector Mohammad Samsuddin filed the case under the Anti-terrorism Act on Sunday afternoon, three days after the incident.
Shariful Islam alias Shafiul Islam alias Saiful Islam, 22, son of Abdul Hye of Ghoraghat upazila in Dinajpur district has been made another accused of the case.
Kishoreganj Model Police Station officer-in-charge Mir Mosharraf Hossain said among the accused Shariful was undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital while Zahidul was in police custody.
Besides, the body of Abir Rahman, a student of North South University and an alleged militant who was killed in a gunfight with police on that day, was kept at Bajitpur Zahurul Islam Medical College, he said.
Earlier on July 7, the eid day, at least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked at a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.
Police recovered two firearms, two local made weapons, two rounds of bullets and four magazines from the spot, he added.
