6 ‘Shibir’ men held in possession of 21 crude bombs in Dinajpur

Dinajpur: Police in separate drives arrested six leaders and activists of ‘Islami Chhatra Shibir’ in possession of 21 crude bombs from several places of the district on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Five of the arrested Shibir men are Amanullah Sarkar and Hamidur Rahman, presidents of the district unit and Birganj upazila unit of Shibir respectively, Shibir activists Tarik Abedin, Biplob and Al-Amin Hossain.
Kotwali police officer-in-charge Redwanur Rahim said being tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive at a house of Lebu Intersection in the district town in the morning and arrested the five Shibir members including Amanullah.
Police also recovered 21 crude bombs and different books from the house.
Earlier, police arrested a Shibir man and 43 other people, accused in several cases, from different places on Monday night.
Police are suspecting that the arrestees might have involvement in militant activities, the OC added.
