Manikganj: Law enforcers in a joint drive arrested five people on suspicion of their involvement in militant activities from different char areas in Harirampur upazila of Manikganj on Wednesday morning.

The arrestees are Mawlana Majibar Rahman,45, Nurul Islam,30, Farhad Hossain,23, Rajib,22, and Shahid,25.

The Manikganj superintendent of police Mahfuzur Rahman said a joint team comprising members of Rapid Action Battalion-4 (RAB), Armed Police Battalion and Detective Branch of police, started the drive in four char areas of the upazila at about 6:00am.

They arrested five people for their suspected militant link from the areas.

The arrestees are now being interrogated, said the police super.

Earlier, on Tuesday, three people were held on suspicion of having militant link from different char areas in Daulatpur upazila of Manikganj.
