Savar: Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan on Wednesday said that the shifting of tannery industries to Savar would not be possible within the stipulated time due to the negligence of tannery owners and contractors.

He urged the tannery owners to shift their industries from Hazaribag to Savar before Eid-ul-Azha.

He made the call at a tripartite meeting of ministers, secretaries and tannery owners in Dhaka after visiting Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Savar Tannery Industrial Estate in Hemayetpur on Wednesday afternoon.

He also expressed dissatisfaction observing no progress in the shifting process of tannery industries. During the meeting, tannery owners raised their problems about slow progress of shifting of industries.

Food Minister Kamrul Islam and Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif also spoke on the occasion.
