Bogra: Three policemen, including a sub-inspector (SI), were closed to the Police Lines here on Tuesday night in connection with the escape of a handcuffed murder accused from police custody in Shahjahanpur upazila.

The closed policemen are: SI Rafiqul Islam, and constables Abul Hasem and Abul Kalam of Dhunat Police Station.

According to police officials, the three policemen were taking Anisur Rahman, son of late Mohsin Alam of Baniagati village in Dhunat upazila and an accused in a murder case, to Bogra district court from Dhunat Police Station by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Tuesday morning, reports UNB.

As the vehicle stopped at a CNG-filling station in Banani area of Shahjahanpur upazila, the handcuffed accused fled the police custody.

Senior assistant superintendent of Bogra police Gaziur Rahman said the three policemen were closed to the Police Lines for negligence in duty.
