Khaleda Zia militants’ caretaker: Information minister

Khulna: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Friday branded BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia as the ‘caretaker’ of militants and killers, and the chief of this syndicate.
‘She (Khaleda) is a threat to Bangladesh and democracy. No national unity can be forged with her,’ he said while addressing a views-exchange meeting arranged by Bangladesh Betar at a local hotel, reports UNB.
Noting that Khaleda Zia could not thwart the trial of the killers of Bangabandhu and the war criminals, Inu said she won’t be able to foil government’s efforts to root out militancy.
He also said the BNP chief is on the list of suspects of secret killings as she was spreading confusion over militancy. ‘She’ll be there on the list as long as she is with Jamaat.’
Praising the law enforcement agencies, the minister said the police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh are working sincerely to curb militancy from the country.
Bangladesh Betar director general AKM Nesaruddin and local lawmaker M Mizanur Rahman were, among others, present at the meeting.
