Tangail: A tribunal in Tangail on Wednesday found Tofazzal Hossain Hira, who was a private tutor, guilty of raping a schoolgirl in 2010 and sentenced him to life term imprisonment.

Hira, now 29, of Falda Dokkhinpara village in Bhuapur upazila of the district, was also fined Tk 20,000, in default, to suffer six months’ more imprisonment.

According to the case statement, the convict violated a schoolgirl on 1 March 2010.

Victim's father filed a case at Bhuapur Police Station.

Police submitted a chargesheet against him after investigation.

After examining the records and witnesses, Tangail Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Sharif Uddin Ahmed handed down the verdict, reports UNB.
