Sylhet college girl stabbed by BCL leader shifted to DMCH

Sylhet: A student of Sylhet Government Womens’ College, who was stabbed by a BCL leader while returning home from college in Sylhet on Monday afternoon, was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Tuesday.
Khadija Akter Nargis, daughter of Masuk Miah, a resident of Hausa village in Sadar upazila, was stopped on her way by Badrul Alam, in his thirties, is assistant secretary of SUST unit of BCL.
At one stage, Badrul, a resident of Manirgati village in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district, stabbed Khadija indiscriminately, leaving her critically injured, said ADC of Sylhet Metropolitan of Police (SMP) Jedan Al Musa.
Hearing screams of the victim, local poeple rescued Khadija and caught Badrul from the spot and handed him over to police after beating him.
Khadija was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital from where she was referred to Dhaka at about 12:10am on Tuesday as her condition deteriorated.
Badrul was also admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital under police custody.
The victim’s family said that in the past Badrul proposed her, but was rejected. Badrul used to live at the victim’s family residence as a tutor at that time.
