13 members of Sundarbans robber gang surrender

Barguna: Thirteen members of ‘Sagar Bahini’, a Sundarbans-based infamous robber gang, surrendered to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan along with their arms and ammunition in the town here on Thursday.

The 13 members of the gang are-Md Alamgir Sheikh alias Sagor, 35, chief of the gang, Md Kamrul Fakir, 27, second-in-command, Abdul Malek, 38, Md Kader Sheikh, 38, Md Hafizur Rahman Sheikh, 46, Md Kabir Sheikh, 34, Md Delwar Sheikh, 38, Md Hasan Sarder, 22, Md Nanna Fakir, 29, Md Towhidul Islam, 43, Md Raju Sheikh, Md Liton Hawlader and Md Tarikul Gazi, hailing from different areas of Bagerhat.

The gang members also deposited eight foreign one-barrel pistols, three local one-barrel pistols, a foreign two-barrel pistol, 22 foreign air rifles, four LGs and two rifles.

Earlier the gang members surrendered before the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-8 on Wednesday afternoon.
