Gazipur: Police arrested five suspected militants from Bangram Salban area in Joydebpur upazila on early Wednesday.

The arrestees are Tanvirul Haque Sajal of Couchhil village in Bogra, Harun Miah, Mohammad Hossain, Dwin Islam, and Abdul Hannan of Satuta village in Kishoreganj.

Superintendent of police Harun-or-Rashid said tipped off that a group of militants were holding a secret meeting, a special task force of the district police conducted a drive in the area in the dead of night.

Later, the law enforcers arrested the five suspects and recovered some crude bombs, three sharp weapons and a huge number of militancy instigating books from their possession.
