‘Six’ injured in knife attack at Dhaka airport
Dhaka: At least six people, including three members of Airport Armed Police (AAP) and three of Ansar, were reportedly injured as a cleaner of a private firm stabbed them at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday evening.
Contacted, commanding officer of Airport Armed Police Rashedul Islam Khan confirmed the incident saying that four of their members were injured in the attack.
But intelligence sources said six people suffered injuries in the incident, reports UNB.
Rashedul Islam said the AAP members detained the attacker with bullet wounds but could not provide his name.
According to the intelligence sources, a young cleaner of AK Trader stabbed an Ansar member at Gate No-3 of the departure lounge at about 6:30pm, as he was prevented from entering the airport for carrying a knife.
As fellow Ansar members rushed in, the attacker also stabbed two other Ansar members, including a female one.
When the AAP members chased the attacker, he stabbed three of them. At one stage, the attacker was caught near Row No-6 inside the departure lounge.
