Satkhira: National Professor MR Khan was buried at his family graveyard at Rasulpur village in the pourashava area here on Monday.

Earlier, his namaz-e-janaza was held at Rasulpur playground in the morning. Prof. Obayedullah, pesh imam of Satkhira Ahle Hadith Jam-e-mosque conducted the namaz-e-janaza at about 10:15am.

When his body was taken to the playground at about 9:30am people from all walks of life, including locals MPs, paid their last respect by placing wreath on the coffin.

On Sunday, the body of the renowned physician was taken to the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital where people from all walks of life, including politicians, students and physicians, paid their last respects to him.

His body was brought here from Dhaka home at about 1:30am.

Dr Khan, who had been undergoing treatment at Central Hospital for various old-age complications, including respiratory problem, for over six months, breathed his last on Saturday at the age of 88.

The first namaj-e-janaza of MR Khan, also the founding chairman of the Central Hospital, was held on the premises of the hospital on Sunday.
