BSF kills cattleman in Satkhira

Satkhira: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot a cattleman to death at India’s Amudia opposite to Kushkhali border in Satkhira in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased is Mohammad Moslem Uddin, in his thirties, claimed the local people. He was the resident of the village of Pachraki at Sadar upazila. However, the Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) could not confirm the deceased’s identity.

Another grazier was held on the spot.

The BGB Battalion 38 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Arman said primarily it has been known that the cattleman was killed during a firing near Amudia main pillar opposite to Kushkhali border at about 6:00am.

The BGB official said the deceased entered into the Indian territory with cows, but nationality of the cattleman could not be known.

BGB Kushkhali border out post (BOP) Subedar Mohammad Ali said BSF opened fire to a gang of cattle smugglers when they tried to enter into Bangladesh border in the early hours of Tuesday.

Later, the BSF found one of the cattle traders dead and arrested another from the spot, said the subedar.

He said BGB is taking preparation for holding a flag meeting with the members of BSF in this connection.
