Pabna: Three suspected robbers were killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the Joynagar area at Ishwardi upazila in Pabna in the early hours of Friday.

Two others were injured during the gunfight. They were sent to adjacent hospital.

Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, residents of Mymensingh.

RAB officials said the deceased are members of a robber gang, while the injured are members of RAB.

The RAB  12 Pabna camp Commander Bina Rani Das said being tipped of that a gang of around 35 members were looting a rice factory in Joynagar area  at about 3:00am, RAB went to the spot. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers the robbers opened fire to them and RAB also fired back which triggered a gunfight and left three robbers dead on the scene.

The RAB camp commander said details about the gunfight will be disclosed in a press conference at about 10:00am.
