Comilla: Comilla Medical College (CMC) and its student residences, which have been declared to be closed for an indefinite period, will be opened on Saturday.

The CMC Academic Council made the decision to open the institution during a meeting held at about 10:00pm on Thursday, said the college’s Principle Dr Mohsinuzzaman Chowdhury.  

Earlier on 28 December, the college authorities declared the college closed for an indefinite period following a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

A chase and counter-chase took place between two factions of BCL over establishing supremacy on the campus in the morning, leaving 13 students injured, according to the authorities.

Five of the injured were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

The academic council sat in a meeting at about 10:00am and took the decision fearing further deterioration of the situation, said Principal of the college Professor Mohosinuzzaman Chowdhury.
